Get to know me!
I am a full time highschool teacher and a part time photographer. I do both for the same reason: I love working with people. For me, the most rewarding moment is seeing passion and confidence flicker in people's eyes. In the classroom and behind the camera, you'll often find me getting super excited about a new idea that I just can't wait to try out!
I am incredibly blessed to have grown up and currently live on the unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan Nation in Penticton BC. The Okanagan Valley has something to discover and enjoy for everyone. In my mind, the small community of Penticton is the Valley's pride and jewel.
Getting outdoors ignites my soul. No matter the season, you'll find me on the mountains and on the lake: hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and kayaking. I never grew up camping, but now there won't be one summer where I won't pull out the bug spray, tent poles, and s'mores kit!
My photography journey started when I was 18 and grew as a shared hobby with my husband. In the Summer of 2020, my Grandfather let me borrow his 1959 Yashica LM medium format camera and oh boy was that a learning curve! Diving into the complex world of film reignited my passion for photography and inspired me to launch my business even while being a beginner teacher in a Pandemic...Unambitious has never been one of my adjectives ;)
Growing up, one of my favourite things to do at our many family gatherings was to flip through old photo albums. We laughed at the funny hair & clothing styles, tried to comprehend the younger versions of our parents, got teary-eyed remembering passed family members and friends. Soon enough, our small viewing would grow as aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents would gather around to tell us the stories behind the photos. To this day, I still love pulling out old photos and reliving the memories and moments.
Photos make the intangible tangible. That, to me, is magic.
